We believe in our communities
At RMY, we have a long-standing culture of doing more than our job. Our founding partners, and many of those who succeeded them, were outstanding figures in the region. As lawyers they were successful in helping many, but it was their voluntary work in the community that came to set the standards that others strive to match.
That has never been truer than it is today. The direction continues to be set from the top. Former senior partner Grant Kerr was awarded the Queen’s Service Medal (QSM) in recognition of the huge amount of work he has done for the community.
Grant was a co-founder of the hugely successful Taranaki Festival of the Arts, and now others in the RMY family carry on his work, with another senior partner, Charles Wilkinson, taking the leadership role with the festival. Suffice to say the festival continues to flourish.
It owes its very existence at least in part to their vision. It is the same with WOMAD (the World of Music and Dance). We are also a significant sponsor and partner of many of the activities at our fabulous Puke Ariki museum-library.
It is that same vision and ‘can do’ attitude that serves many of our clients so well.
However, there is far more to us than the arts, our people reflect the interests of the region’s we serve. Many are involved in sport. With partner Haamiora Raumati coaching the Kaitaki under 8's rugby team just one example. Whether it's the bridge club, the Auckland arts scene, Rotary, Civil Defence or the Operatic Society, our people are there giving of themselves.
That’s another thing we do at RMY, meet the needs of our communities, because we want to.
